This section of gold banding was roughly two feet in length, three inches across, and a third of an inch deep. It weighed a little under 25 pounds.
This worked piece of gold was largely straight, with some sections bending off at right angles into short spurs or squared-off spirals. The surface was imprinted with a series of non-repeating geometric shapes, mostly squares and rectangles, with no obvious meaning to them. None of these shapes resembled any known form of writing.
Due to the ragged edges at each end of the band, it appeared that this small section had been haphazardly removed or ripped free from a larger whole.
