At first, this item appeared to be a mask approximately 6 inches square and made of gold. It depicted a stylized face, largely made up of blocky geometrical shapes raised from the surface.

The back of the mask was unadorned but polished to a high sheen, allowing it to be used as a mirror. Handling the mask for more than a few seconds was known to produce dizziness, while donning it almost always forced wearers to receive detailed visions of far-away lands and unknown activities.
