A mummy was an undead creature, most often wrapped in decaying bandages, that had been reanimated by supernatural means, technology, or disease. Usually, mummies were under the command of a living master and were known to haunt pyramids, temples, and other religious or significant sites, but they may have resided anywhere.

In the highlands of Peru, the members of what would become The Friends of Prospero discovered a bundle of rags within the depths of a ruined pyramid. This seemingly innocuous pile of filth and bones was a mummy, which promptly attacked.
