Bar Cordano was founded on January 13, 1905, by the Genoese Vigilio Botano and the brothers Luis and Antonio Cordano, initially as a bazaar and later as a lounge and restaurant.
The bar occupied an old house with mud walls and dingy granite floors. The establishment also functioned as a restaurant. It was divided into three rooms, each with a capacity of 150 people.
Located on a corner, Bar Cordano had two entrances, one on Jirón Street and the other on Carabaya, in front of the Desamparados station of the Lima Railway. It was also only a few meters from the Government Palace, which meant both politicians and the working class alike were often found enjoying its pleasant and welcoming atmosphere.
